Easter Parade occurs as 1948 musical film starring Fred Astaire and Judy Garland. It features music by Irving Berlin. A film was originally to keep close at hand starred Gene Kelly, but Kelly was hurt upright before production & Astaire, world health organization experienced announced his retirement from either film, was coaxed back to replenish him. (Astaire would "retire" many further days all over the next decade, however he would as well last around to produce a total of extra classic musical comedy in-mediate retirements.) This film marked a major MGM debut of tap-dancer Ann Miller (who experienced antecedently been under contract to RKO), replacing Cyd Charisse, who likewise got to bow away from a production.
A film featured a select few of Astaire & Garland's right-known songs, including "Steppin' Out With My Baby" & "We're a Couple of Swells." the single musical total, a seductive performance by Garland of "Mr. Monotony" wearing a top half of the tux & nylon leotards (the style of dress which would be something of a trademark inside late years fallowing she bore the equivalent outfit inside 1950's Summer Stock), wwhen cut from the film as it was deemed as well racy for a film purportedly placed within 1912. Audiences eventually had to understand this total (considered one of Garland's finest performances in film) in the Nineties whilst an emended version was involved in the 1994 compilation film ''That's Entertainment III'', though audiences wouldn't get to see the complete performance of "Mr. Monotony" until it was involved within the favorite DVD box set of the iii ''That's Amusement films within 2004; it was subsequently involved as a favorite feature on the 2005 DVD release of Easter Parade''.
